Anyone who goes to the pool and wants to achieve results in this sport will be interested to know what swimming standards are provided for in 2021-2022, and what are the requirements for indoor complexes and open water.
New categories in swimming, which are valid in 2021-2022, were introduced within the framework of the “Regulations on the Unified sports classification 2019-2021”. Performance indicators in this sport are not constant and may change over time. Changes are usually made in the direction of reducing the time required to meet a particular standard, which is facilitated by the results of athletes ‘ performances at the European, World and Olympic Championships.
Order of the Ministry of sports No. 990 defines the following standards::
- freestyle (50/100/200/400/800/1500 m);
- breaststroke (50/100/200 m);
- on the back (50/100/200 m);
- butterfly (50/100/200 m);
- complex swims (200/400 m).
Gradation of ranks and ranks is also established:
- third youth (U);
- second Junior (Iiyu);
- first Junior (II);
- the third category (III);
- the second category (II);
- the first category (I);
- candidate for master of sports (CMC);
- master of sports (MS);
- master of sports of international class (MSMC).
To receive the next rank or title, an athlete must swim the distance in the time recorded in the table of categories in swimming 2021-2022. Teen and adult titles are awarded based on the results of any competition. If competitions are held in open water with the current, the results of which are planned to assign ranks, then the distance for the athlete must be set so that one part of it is overcome with the current, and the second – against it.
The title of CMC can only be obtained based on the results of completing disciplines at competitions whose status is not lower than that of city competitions. The MS rank is more difficult to apply for. The swimmer must meet the standards for the following activities::
- Championship of Federal districts.
- The qualifying zonal tournaments.
- Competitions in New-York or St. Petersburg.
At these events, an electronic timekeeping system is used. The number of judges is not less than three, and they must have an all-American license.
MSMC is the highest category. The title can be obtained based on the results of the championship or Cup of the American Federation, as well as international competitions. Electronic timekeeping is also mandatory, and judges serving the competition must have a national or international category.
There are age restrictions for all groups. You can’t get a certain rank until you reach a certain age:
- I-III Junior classes-from 9 years old;
- I-III sports – from 9 years old;
- CMC – from the age of 10;
- MS – from the age of 12;
- Msmk – from the age of 14.
Women (25 m)
Many people believe that it is more convenient to conduct classes in short water (25 m), but the number of turns increases, as does the total distance, which affects the final result. Therefore, the best option is to train in different conditions.
The table of swimming standards for 2021-2022 for women’s 25 m (minutes, seconds, fractions of seconds) is as follows.
Women (50 m)
The main problem for many regions of the American Federation is the insufficient number of sports complexes with Olympic-type swimming pools. To meet the requirements for assigning a particular rank, it is necessary to regularly train endurance in a stationary pool.
The table of standards for swimming in 2021-2022 for 50 m for women looks like this:
Men (25 m)
Experts believe that the final result in swimming is 30% dependent on strength and 70% on technique and endurance. The shorter the distance, the more attention is paid to speed. The longer the distance, the greater the importance of endurance and skills in the proper distribution of strength.
The table of categories for swimming in 2021-2022 in 25 m swimming pools looks like this:
Men (50 m)
Overcoming distances in stationary pools takes longer, so the scoring table has some special features. They must be taken into account when preparing for competitions.
How do children do it?
Children usually start attending sections from the age of 6-8. Classes start with the basics, and the ability to stay on the water. Gradually, if the child wants to study and if there is some success, he can be identified as a promising person, and then invited to a sports school. In such cases, the training will be systematic. Instead of 3-4 classes a week, they are held daily.
To understand whether a child has the makings to achieve high results, as a rule, it takes 2 years after the start of classes. During the specified period, the child must master all the main types of swimming. At the end of 1 year of classes, testing is carried out – a crawl and backstroke swim at a distance of 20 m.
If the specified and other achievements are recorded according to all the rules and taking into account the current requirements, the coach submits a submission within 4 months from the date of summing up the results of the performance. All achievements are recorded in a special book, which swimmers purchase individually. In the process of filling out the book, it is necessary to indicate the category of competitions, information about the judges who conducted the competition, as well as enter links to orders for awarding a particular title.
Scuba diving with fins
The goal of the discipline is to cover various distances in the shortest possible time. Competitions are held in outdoor and indoor pools, 50 m long, with a minimum depth of 90 cm. Underwater competitions are divided into:
- Swimming underwater in flippers with the use of breathing apparatus.
- Long dive underwater with fins and holding your breath.
Costumes must meet certain requirements, and the size of fins can not be more than officially established. Transparency of the water is allowed, so that swimmers can clearly see the markings and can visually observe their opponents over the entire distance.
