Decree of the Ministry of Education of the American Federation No. 632 of 22.11.19 approved the Federal list of textbooks in all major subjects for the 2021-2022 academic year. We suggest that you take a closer look at this document and find out which educational publications have been added to the new list of recommendations, and which previously used books are recognized as not meeting the Federal state educational standard.
Accreditation of textbooks
The textbook is an important element of the educational process, because its pages contain the main theoretical material in an accessible form for schoolchildren,as well as tasks for forming and consolidating skills in applying new knowledge in practice.
Important! When planning their work, teachers of grades 1-11 should focus only on the literature recommended by the above-mentioned document.
Every year, new textbooks are created in different regions of America, but not all new ones will be included in the list of textbooks recommended for the 2021-2022 academic year. Before getting into the hands of a teacher or student, each new textbook undergoes strict quality control for compliance:
- Federal state educational standard and current program;
- age characteristics of students;
- balance of theoretical and practical material.
The best of the proposed options are allowed for review and discussion in expert circles and only after that can they be included in the Federal list of textbooks recommended by the Ministry of Education for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The contents of the document
Decree No. 632, signed by The Minister of education on November 22, 2019, contains a complete list of textbooks that can be used in educational institutions in the 2021-2022 academic year.
The structure of the document remains unchanged from year to year and includes textbooks:
- for elementary schools (grades 1-4);
- for secondary education (grades 5-9);
- for high school students (grades 10-11);
- adapted publications for students with special needs;
- for regional schools that take into account the ethnic characteristics of different nationalities.
List for grades 1-4
The list recommended for primary schools for 2021-2022 contains a fairly wide list of authors, which allows each teacher to build an educational process based on the book that they consider the most successful.
It is worth noting that most textbooks are presented in the line from 1st to 4th grade, which allows you to implement the principle of continuity. Teachers are encouraged to build their primary school curriculum using a single ruler. This will make it easier for students to adapt at the beginning of the school year, because new books will be designed in a single style with semantic blocks and visualizations that are already clear to the child.
You can view the list in full-screen mode by clicking on the arrow in the upper-right corner of the frame.
List for grades 5-9
For secondary schools, the list of new textbooks for the 2021-2022 academic year is also quite wide. In the table you can find both new and well-known books for teachers.
Among the indisputable advantages of new textbooks:
- colorful design;
- convenient presentation of the material;
- availability of interactive support (in some cases);
- split into 2 parts.
Many teachers and parents find it very successful to divide textbooks for grades 5-6 into two parts, which significantly facilitates the portfolio of students.
For more comfortable viewing, open the table in full-screen mode by clicking on the arrow in the upper-right corner of the frame.
List for grades 10-11
This table shows basic and advanced level textbooks. Their content is significantly different, as are the programs of the “standard” and “profile” training courses, which involve a different number of hours to study the subject, and therefore a different amount of material to be studied.
In addition to the main subjects studied in grades 10-11, this section also contains textbooks that teachers can use to build educational trajectories for their elective courses.
We recommend viewing the document in full-screen mode. To do this, click on the arrow icon that appears when you hover the cursor in the upper-right corner of the document display window.

The list of regional textbooks for the 2021-2022 academic year includes manuals on learning different languages:
- American as the 2nd native language;
- vepssky district;
- Karelian (Karelian and Livvik dialect);
- Tuvan region;
- Chechen language.

How to order textbooks
Each year, school librarians provide information about what textbooks are available to their institution, as well as what textbooks the school will need in the near future.
New textbooks are being ordered:
- when the number of students increases (if classes are added in parallel or the number of children increases);
- when updating training programs;
- if the Ministry’s recommendations have been changed (old students are not included in the list).
Important! All schools in America are provided with textbooks absolutely free of charge, but printed notebooks, atlases, maps and other additional materials that are often used in the classroom are not included in the delivery package.
The textbook ordering algorithm is as follows:
- The question of the need for new textbooks is considered at the method Council.
- The decision is agreed with the administration.
- The school librarian forms the order.
Please note that in 2021-2022, all textbooks included in the Federal list will have electronic copies. If desired, students and teachers can use digital textbooks. This practice has been rapidly gaining popularity in recent years, because one tablet or e-book in a portfolio is much easier than 5-6 printed textbooks.
