Eclipses in 2021: solar and lunar, in USA and around the world

Observing the darkening of the Sun and moon, people have long attributed some mystical meaning to such phenomena, and were afraid of their impact on the human body and animals, the surrounding nature and energy processes. Today, when scientists have investigated and explained the nature of these astronomical phenomena, it is already reliably known when solar and lunar eclipses will occur in 2021, which of them can be observed in America, and which will be visible in other countries of the world.

Solar panels

An astronomical phenomenon called a “solar Eclipse” occurs when the Moon is directly between the Sun and the Earth.

Important! Observe the darkening of the solar disk will not be possible from any point on our planet, but only where the area of total Eclipse and penumbra is formed.

Varieties

Depending on how the planets are located, there are:

  • full name– when the Moon completely covers the Sun;
  • private(partial) – when the Moon does not completely cover the sun’s disk;
  • ring-shaped– when the Moon passes far from the Earth and at the moment of alignment of the axes does not completely obscure the solar disk (a luminous ring is formed around the dark disk).

It is worth noting that on the scale of the entire planet, a total solar Eclipse is not uncommon, but in the history of any particular corner of the Earth there are not so many of them. So, until 2021 in New-York, a total solar Eclipse was last observed in 1887. Moreover, even in 1887, residents of the capital failed to appreciate the splendor of this unique astronomical event due to bad weather.

Dates for 2021

For those who track solar and lunar eclipses, or want to witness this unusual phenomenon in 2021, scientists have compiled a schedule indicating those parts of our planet where it will be best seen.

So, in 2021, 2 solar eclipses are expected:

June 10, 2021

America, Greenland, Northern Canada

Northern part of North America

December 4, 2021

Antarctica, South Atlantic, South Africa

Thus, Americans in 2021 will be able to see only the summer Eclipse, which is expected on June 10. But, in the capital, if the weather is good, it will be possible to see only a partial darkening of the solar disk. According to scientists, Muscovites will be able to contemplate a truly complete darkening of the solar disk on October 16, 2126.

Impact on human

Although for many centuries such events were considered harbingers of serious cataclysms, wars and other bad events, modern scientists assure that you should not be afraid of an Eclipse in 2021.

Like all astronomical events, the alignment of the Earth, moon and Sun in one line has a certain impact on nature, people and animals. So, 2 weeks before the dates indicated in the tables and 2 more weeks after them are possible:

  • seismic activity, hurricanes and storms;
  • unusual behavior of animals due to a malfunction of their biorhythms;
  • deterioration of the state of health of people suffering from hypertension and other diseases of the cardiovascular system.

As a rule, these effects are most pronounced in the zone of complete darkening of the solar disk. Astrologers also warn that most of all the Eclipse can affect people born under the zodiac signs in which the planets are located. This means that in 2021, Gemini should be careful in June, and Sagittarius should be careful in December. Before and after an astrological event, there may be sharp twists of fate that can eventually lead to both very good and bad results.

Lunar ones

Unlike the salty one, which is difficult to miss, being in the zone of its direct impact, a lunar Eclipse often passes almost unnoticed for most of the Earth’s inhabitants, since it can only be seen at night and in cloudless weather.

A “lunar Eclipse” is said to occur when the shadow of the Earth, being in a straight line between the Sun and the Moon, obscures the lunar disk.

Important! You can observe a lunar Eclipse from any point on Earth facing the moon at the time of the astronomical event.

Varieties

Depending on which point of our planet you will observe this astronomical event from, as well as on how the planets mutually decompose, there are three possible options::

  • full name– The moon is completely in the shadow of the Earth, and the rays of the Sun refracted in the atmosphere turn it into a blood-red hue.;
  • private– The earth’s shadow partially covers the moon;
  • penumbral– occurs if the Moon does not fully enter the shadow zone, but only passes through the penumbra area.

Like solar eclipses, lunar eclipses will occur twice in 2021 (there were 4 of them in 2020).
